The SoundMat 2 Plus is a tried and tested soundproofing mat designed to reduce unwanted impact and airborne noise enabling you to achieve peace and quiet in your home. Particularly suited to carpet final floor finishes, where impact noise is a priority.
SoundMat 2 Plus is an exceptionally thin soundproofing solution which is easily installed directly to an existing timber or concrete floor.
Featuring a combination of soundproofing materials to add mass and sound dampening properties to your floor, which are cleverly combined in one effective solution.
At an incredibly thin 12mm the SoundMat 2 Plus offers a slimline solution to help reduce unwanted impact noise from neighbours living above or for privacy between floors within your own home.
High performance - improve the soundproofing capabilities of your floor to achieve peace, quiet and privacy within your own home
Straightforward DIY installation - saving you time and money, without the need of extra labour costs
Saves you space - minimise the build up of floor height with a slimline soundproofing solution (only 12mm thick)
Fast delivery lead times (3-5 working days) - no need to prolong the wait for a solution to your noise issue. We're here to make it happen swiftly and efficiently
Industry leading technical support - Soundproof with confidence. Whatever the noise issue, whatever the question, we're here to help
The SoundMat 2 Plus has been designed as a direct to floor solution which means it is extremely straightforward to install.
A competent DIYer can install the system themselves saving on installation costs. For non DIYers, a local tradesperson or carpet fitter will have the necessary skill to install the system for you following our detailed installation guide.
Our team of highly trained and experienced soundproofing professionals are also on hand to offer technical support and answer any installation questions.
Two layers of sound reduction engineering
1. 3mm Mass Loaded Vinyl - high mass acoustic barrier to help block airborne noise
2. 9mm Closed Cell Foam - dampens sound energy and vibrations
Real World Site Test
Tested on timber sub floor with one layer of plasterboard directly fixed to underside of joists.

Floor soundproofing will reduce impact noise, airborne noise, or both.
All our acoustic floor solutions are designed to exceed the UK Part E Building Regulations for the passage of sound.
Different systems offer different levels of noise reduction depending on the level of noise needed to be blocked and the current construction of the floor.
No soundproofing will offer 100% reduction, however installing soundproofing will dramatically reduce unwanted noisy neighbour noise.
*dB results will vary depending on several factors.
Please see our dB blog on why dB results may vary
Floor soundproofing will block impact noise (footsteps) travelling from the room above to the room below.
Floor soundproofing can also block airborne noise travelling from below to the room above or from the room above to the room below.
Floor soundproofing varies in thickness from 5mm to 28mm depending on the type and level of soundproofing required.
SoundMat 2 Plus is just 12mm thick and performs well against impact and airborne noise on a timber floor and achieves great results against impact noise on a concrete floor.
There are two main options for installing our DIY soundproofing solutions:
DIY Installation
Using a local tradesperson
Yes. However, the best final floor finish for soundproofing is carpet. Thin hard floors such as laminate and vinyl can also be fitted on top of soundproofing, although some systems may need a 6mm hardboard first to provide a flat stable base.
The Reverso SoundMat is unique as (in most cases) no further hardboard layer is needed.
Engineered wood floors can also be fitted on top of soundproofing providing it is 18mm or thicker.
Bathroom, and kitchen tiles will normally need a flat stable base on top of the soundproofing, depending on which floor soundproofing system has been selected.
For specialist flooring (including certain LVT and Vinyl) a self-levelling screed or overboard may be needed to meet the manufactures guidance. Please speak to the flooring manufacturer to check.
n.b. Solid and hard floor finishes will reduce the amount of impact noise reduction achieved by the base layer of soundproofing by up to 5dB.
