SoundScreed 25 is a high mass floor soundproofing solution used to reduce high levels of airborne noise, helping to create peace and quiet within your home.
SoundScreed 25 provides a strong, level and stable base for hard floor finishes, eliminating the need for additional stabilising layers. This saves valuable installation time, whilst also helping to reduce costs.
Incredibly versatile, SoundScreed 25 can be directly installed onto floor joists, replacing your existing floorboards and reducing the overall floor height build-up. Alternatively, SoundScreed 25 can be conveniently overlaid on top of current floorboards.
Whether you require peace and quiet from noisy neighbours living above or below, or privacy between floors within your own home, then SoundScreed 25 is an excellent solution.
High performance - dramatically improve the airborne soundproofing capabilities of your floor to achieve peace, quiet and privacy within your own home
Straightforward DIY installation - saving you time and money, without the need of extra labour costs
Saves you space - can replace existing floorboards to help minimise floor height build-up
Fast delivery lead times (3-5 working days) - no need to prolong the wait for a solution to your noise issue. We're here to make it happen swiftly and efficiently
Industry leading technical support - Soundproof with confidence. Whatever the noise issue, whatever the question, we're here to help

Our team of highly trained and experienced soundproofing professionals are also on hand to offer technical support and answer any installation questions.
One layer of superior mass and density
1. 25mm Gypsum Flooring Panel - adds more mass to the floor to help block airborne noise
Real World Site Test
Tested on timber subfloor with one layer of plasterboard directly fixed to underside of joists.
Airborne Performance
(higher the figure the better)
53dB (DnT,w)
46dB (DnT,w+Ctr) Includes correction for low frequency performance.
Airborne sound reduction of untreated timber floor:
38dB (DnT,w) / 25dB (DnT,w+Ctr)
Airborne improvement with treatment:
15dB (DnT,w) / 21dB (DnT,w+Ctr)
SoundScreed 25 is a multipurpose flooring product that can be utilised in a variety of different situations:
Direct to floor joists:
To minimise floor height build up whilst improving the airborne soundproofing capabilities of the floor
Secondary Floor Battens:
Used as a structural floor on acoustic cradles and isolated secondary floor battens. The use of secondary floor battens will enhance both airborne and impact sound performance
Floating over underfloor heating:
Used as a floating construction on top of thermal insulation (PIR) above underfloor heating systems with a far greater thermal conductivity than standard chipboard floors
Overlaid on an existing floor:
Used as an overlay board on an existing solid sub floor when floor height is not restricted. Impact performance can be improved by the addition of ProSound ImpactoMat 5

Floor soundproofing will reduce impact noise, airborne noise or both. All of our acoustic floor solutions are designed to exceed the UK Part E Building Regulations for the passage of sound. (43dB or higher for airborne noise and 64dB or lower for impact noise).
Different systems offer different levels of noise reduction depending on the level of noise needed to be blocked and the current construction of the floor.
No soundproofing will offer 100% reduction, however installing soundproofing will dramatically reduce noisy neighbour noise.
*dB results will vary depending on several factors.
Please see our dB blog on why dB results may vary
Floor soundproofing will block impact noise (footsteps) travelling from the room above to the room below.
Floor soundproofing can also block airborne noise travelling from below to the room above or from the room above to the room below.
The short answer is YES as soundproofing is like waterproofing and is only as good as the weakest point. (As sound can travel through very small gaps).
If you were to soundproof just part of the floor you would be wasting your money.
Floor soundproofing varies in thickness from 5mm to 28mm depending on the type and level of soundproofing required. However, our best-selling SoundScreed is just 28mm thick and performs exceptionally well against both airborne noise and impact noise.
Please see our dedicated installation page for more details on different installation options.
Yes, however, the best final floor finish for soundproofing is carpet. Our SoundScreed is unique in that no further hardboard layer is needed.
Thin hard floors such as laminate and vinyl can also be fitted on top of soundproofing, but some systems may need a 6mm hardboard first to provide a flat stable base. Our Reverso SoundMat is unique in that in the majority of cases no further hardboard layer is needed.
Engineered wood floors can also be fitted on top of soundproofing providing it is 18mm or thicker.
Bathroom, and kitchen tiles will normally need a flat stable base on top of the soundproofing, depending on which floor soundproofing system has been selected.
For specialist flooring (including certain LVT and Vinyl) a self levelling screed or overboard may be needed to meet the manufactures guidance. Please speak to the flooring manufacturer to check.
Solid and hard floor finishes will reduce the amount of impact noise reduction achieved by the base layer of soundproofing by up to 5dB.
