How to install a TV or radiator onto a soundproofed wall

TV mounted onto a soundproofed wall

When looking to install a television on either the ReductoClip™ Direct to Wall, or ReductoClip™ Independent Wall soundproofing system, there is a simple solution which utilises extra clips and furring channels.

By using the extra ReductoClips, their design means they can carry the weight of the T.V. and bracket (not exceeding a combined weight of 60kg). This is to ensure you are not overloading the clips and bars which will be holding the weight of the system.

We would advise installing two extra horizontal furring channels between the two standard furring channels to accommodate the TV wall mount. Please make a note of the location of your two extra furring channels by marking on the returning walls and the ceiling so that they are easily identifiable. Further in the process, they will be concealed with the plasterboard and Tecsound layers.

Once your two extra furring channels and four ReductoClips have been installed, please proceed with fixing on the two layers of acoustic plasterboard with Tecsound sandwiched in between (following the ReductoClip System installation instructions). Ensure that you are not suspending these layers onto the furring channels which are designed to take the weight of the Television only.

Marking the positions of the ReductoClip furring channels onto plasterboard

When the final layers of the system have all been completed, please hold up the wall mount and position this in accordance with the concealed furring channels. Then fix the wall mount into these channels using stainless steel self drilling screws, ensuring a strong secure connection.

We would advise running two extra horizontal furring channels between the two standard furring channels to accommodate the TV wall mount. If there is limited space there may be a need to offset the ReductoClips as shown by adding an extra two timber verticals as fixing points. Please make a note of the location of your two extra furring channels by marking on the returning walls and the ceiling so that they are easily identifiable, as further in the process, they will be concealed with the plasterboard and Tecsound layers.

The television can now be fixed onto the wall mount system using the fixing kit provided by the manufacturer. If you are planning on installing a soundbar below your tv then the same process applies, however just using one furring channel with two ReductoClips.

Installing a Radiator on the ReductoClip Systems

The same process can be used if you are looking to install a radiator system on the wall (using two extra horizontal furring channels).

Soundproofing a brick wall can be extremely effective if key principles are followed. Decoupling soundproofing layers from the brick wall and enhancing its ability to absorb and dampen sound energy. Adding resilience to the brick wall with ReductoClips allows the wall to flex and absorb vibrations, much like a car’s suspension system smooths out road bumps. To block airborne noise, heavy, dense materials like FlexiSound and Acoustic Plasterboard are added. For optimal soundproofing of a solid brick party wall, the ReductoClip Independent Wall System offers a outstanding solution, combining key soundproofing elements for maximum noise reduction.
